Day 04 (07/Nov/2013) Last day in Saigon

We decided to have breakfast a bit earlier today.

Usually there's only about 5 or 6 other people but this morning was a different story.
There were two buses out front which meant a dining room full of French and Korean hotel patrons.
They ramsacked all the food !

After one bowl of noodles we decided to ditch.

Chicken Vermicelli noodles with bamboo shoots
We headed out to Parkson Paragon out of the city in district 7.
It's a wonder how this standalone department store stays open.
It's a beautiful building, and a beautiful store but there are no damn customers.
The ratio of staff to shopper is 50:1
The staff aren't used to seeing shoppers either because as they see us they talk amongst themselves "quick get up theres people here !!".

After buying a new carry on suitcase we returned to the hotel to drop it off then crossed the road for breakfast part 2.

Banh Canh Ghe
Pork Com Tam
Our choice alternative to soft drink
To put in perspective, the size of the servings arent too big.
Thus why we can eat so many meals per day... ok I'm just making excuses. :S

After breakfast part two ... we caught a Taxi to Parkson @ district 5.
Yet again another Lacoste with nothing to buy.
Up at the foodcourt however was KFC !
Couldn't resist Hot N Spicy ~

Cat sneaked this picture in

Raining again
After Parkson Q5, heading back towards the city we stopped off for Lunch.

This little restaurant is nestled in a quiet street, away from the buzz and madness of traffic.

We were Immediately impressed as we entered this French Colonial true Vietnamese organic countrystyle restaurant.
Being lunch time, it was very busy at almost full capacity.

We walked in waiting to be greeted by wait staff but instead all we got was stares from the other patrons.
30 seconds passed by and we started to feel uncomfortable.
Cat bursts out "Who the f*ck works here ???"
Immediately the guy sitting down beside us the whole time pops up and asks "How many people Miss ???"

English menu for me.
Vietnamese menu for Cat.

Cat trying to read the Vietnamese menu
Coconut & Soda Chanh

Caramelised Pork and Fish with pepper
Spring rolls

Claypot Pork
Deep fried banana fritters ... divine
Very nice residence
All over Saigon, it is normal to see men sitting on the roadside bored, scratching their feet or sleeping on their motorbikes but this caught our attention.

Spot his feet
It was time for our final dinner in Saigon.
We had to go out with a bang ...
We had to do it big ...
We had to do it right !

Rotisserie duck
Sturgeon

Fresh apple juice
Grilled cockles
Langoustines
Big juicy fleshy bites
Suckling pig 890,000 dong / AUD $45
Cheeks were the best part !

What a feast and all that for 1,790,000 dong / AUD $90

Full and bloated up to our necks, I insisted on dessert !!!

No more food, drink or dessert PLEASEEEE ! :x

Goodnight Saigon ~!
It has been fun.

This is the end our of short stay.
Even though we've been here a few times, it is still eye-opening.
It's amazing how the people live here, there are so many people here,
Every direction we look, every taxi ride where ever we go, it all triggers a mixed bag of reactions.

Don't think we'll ever quite get totally used to the how things just work around here.
Everytime we cross the road, my arm is squeezed to a pulp and my ear is bashed by Cat squealing in fright.
Every time we sit in the backseat of a Taxi and look out the window, we squirm or laugh at what we see.
Everytime we eat something, we delightfully savour and think WHY CAN'T VIETNAMESE FOOD AT HOME BE LIKE THIS

Until next time ... (We have a 6 hour stopover on the way home haha).

Early morning flight to Singapore tomorrow !!!
