Day 09 (12/Nov/2013) Feeling Homesick

We started today by exploring the Japanese department store Takashimaya and the rest of Ngee Ann City.

Breakfast for me was another round of Nasi Padang.

Cat roadtested another serving of Chicken Rice.

Ordinary
Giant Christmas tree and Paul the Patisserie
Golden Macaron Christmas Tree
From there we caught a taxi to Holland Village.
The travel guides describe this as a hip place where locals go to eat and hang out.

Rain rain ... what's new ?

What a waste of time.
Think of Birkenhead Point before its makeover, only worse.

After this we went to another place the guides said was a must visit.

Haji Lane in the Arab area.

This little guy made us miss Birdy
How exciting ...
Arab Street area
Sultan Mosque
Kampong Glam
Stretched Tea ... tasted like milk tea and condensed milk
In need of a bit of R&R before a different flavour for lunch we went back to the hotel for a short break.

We considered swimming but didn't want to disturb the bar patrons with our bodies
Bar Canary
So sick of the variety or lack there of, it was the opportune time to try a must eat dish whilst in Singapore.

We went over the 138 Racecourse Road ... Muthu's Curry.

We were pleasantly suprised at how clean this restaurant was, we could even smell deodorant on the waiters.

Chicken Tikka
Deep fried lady fingers ... Cat's favourite
Mixed sampler ... meh
The awesome Fish Head Curry
Sri Lankan crab in chilli garlic
Totally didn't need to order this dish but my eyes were hungrier than my apetite.
Cat told me stories about what these Sri Lankan crabs feed on, which made swallowing them that bit harder.
The texture of these crabs was mooshey compared to the usual stringy texture of mud crab.

Butter Chicken and Tadhka Daal
Cat later referred to this as BUTT BOMB CHICKEN and WHY DOES IT HURT SO MUCH DARL.
Best Indian food we've ever eaten but like always it didn't sit right with us.

Little India

Whilst in Little India we decided to check out the Serangoon Plaza and the famous Mustafa Centre.

After this we went back to Orchard Rd and stopped in at 313@Sommerset.

Like most other Lacoste stores i left this one empty handed and annoyed.
Those of you who shop at Lacoste know it's range is pretty ugly at the best of times.
Only some items in the range are appealing.

What i found over and over was that there was nothing my size.
Medium size hats that wouldn't fit my head.
Collared shirts that don't fit my neck.
Polos that dont come in size 6. !

The staff explained to me that the Singaporean stock purchaser did not buy anything bigger than medium.
What a F*cktard.

Mandarin Gallery next.

Another store, same story.

Getting sick of Orchard Road.
All the shopping malls have the same generic shops with nothing to buy.
The expensive baller brands have no incentive to purchase from because the prices are the same at home.
I do not have $50,000 to buy a luxurious watch at one of the thousands of watch stores.

Back to the hotel ... and that is where we stayed.
Curry Fury.

We tried to walk around Orchard Rd some more but only lasted 10 minutes before needing to retreat for more Immodium.

Lazy, homesick, sick eating of the same food and not eating for hours ... I ordered room service steak
